Bastard flyers

I just can't understand why these travellers at the airport are bitching!
Extreme weather is extreme weather - what the fuck are the airports supposed to do?? There isnt an airport in the world that could handle this fog.
Heathrow has set up marquees, put people in hotels, provided blankets, sleeping mats, hot drinks and food, childrens toys...and still flyers are whining. "I dont want to come on holiday and have to stand in a queue"
Oh really? Thanks for those words of wisdom - I'd never have guessed! Usually when I go on holiday I like to stand in a queue at the airport for a few days...maybe travel agencies should start asking customers if this is a requirement or not?
I can grumble and complain with the best of them but when we start calling for people to be sacked because of the weather we're taking the piss.
Get a grip and realise that shit happens!
Bastard flyers!
PS Obviously the real answer is that we need more than two runways at Heathrow (all Euro ones have 3, 4 or 5)...but I bet then it would be the same bastard flyers turning into tree-huggers and complaining about the bastard effect on the bastard environment.

Monoglot Europe: post-post English imperialism?

The European Union is adding 3 new languages to its official languages list next month, bringing the total of official European languages to 23.

What a charming celebration of diversity and a heart-warming tip of the hat to cultural difference. Diversity in language is a beautiful and emotional connection to history and nation. Languages are a stamp of heritage, intellectual and political development, a window into the values and aesthetics of a culture.

Languages cost the EU €1.1 billion last year in translation and interpretation costs. Is there not an opportunity-cost argument for balancing heart-warmth with pragmatism?

Everyone is learning English – in Europe and beyond, a quarter of the world in fact. How long can Brussels cling to its Francocentric inspired linguistic diversity policy before it all goes belly-up? What really is the point of translating everything into Irish? Would the Romanians not rather have more jobs, than EU documents in Romanian?

Am I being a complete Anglophone Anglophile? – well, I would probably be just as happy if we adopted French or German as our ‘working’ European language – at least that would make us self-obsessed English learn more languages, which would be a great thing for global cohesion and development overall! I think it is arrogant, stupid and sacrilegious that foreign languages are no longer compulsory in schools after the age of 14. However, for the sake of pragmatism and money well spent, English makes more sense as like it or not, it is also the first language of the USA as well as being the first choice for a second language world-wide: 20% of 5 year olds in Japan are enrolled on English language courses!

Correspondingly, why are we in the UK spending so much of our well-earned taxes on translation services for our new nationals that can’t be bothered to learn English? Even worse, why are we spending so much of our well-earned taxes on translation services for our OLD nationals that can’t be bothered to learn English? – the Bangladeshis have been here for over 30 years, we are well into the third generation! Why are we still pandering to their self-absorption? A friend of mine asked me only two weeks ago to help him find a translator to put the slogan “join our basketball club” into Bengali. But he was targeting teenage girls; how does such an exercise promote integration or engagement? It serves only to divide us further.

Two thirds of all EU documents are now drafted in English. This is a sad legacy of imperialism, but let’s look forward I say and focus on integration, development and cohesion. Let’s divert translation funds into providing language classes for all, English for all, and other languages for English speakers. There are many ways to celebrate diversity, spending money on vain translations is not one of them.

Why are Jews at the 'Holocaust Denial' conference?

Should these guys be lambasted for attending what has in the main, been promoted as an event that denies the holocaust or should they be commended for at least representing a Jewish view regardless of how narrow that may be?

Scanning the media, it seems most believe the conference to be a network of racists but the attendance of this small group of Orthodox Jews is a strange one. They have clearly stated they do not question the holocaust but believe the exploitation of it to justify the state of Israel as being against key Jewish teachings.

According to them, the Talmud teaches that believers may not use human force to create a Jewish state before the coming of the Messiah and therefore in the interests of lasting peace, should be dismantled.

Surely it's better to be part of the debate than just accuse these guys of treason?

People's Court?

We've all been bitching about ridiculous lengthy court battles, police inability to deal with issues immediately etc.
I saw some ex-UN negotiator General sort out that problem down in Billericay between the Gypsies and Residents.
Is there some way we/someone could set up a peoples court that citizens could pay a small amount to have their issue decided (they have to accept the decision, a la Judge Judy)?
Any ideas?

Was Diana murdered?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/news/newsbeat/061214_diana.shtml
I know we don't really give a shit on a personal level but we cant have MI6 bumping people of like the Al-Fayed suggests.
So: Do you believe the conspiracy theory that Diana/Dodi were murdered?
My vote: No.

You Asked:

You asked me once what it was I want
but what I need is more prescient

I need to live your love expressed
comfortable, painful, beautiful

I believe that we are meant to be
I need you now and always to know

Life with any other is a lie
Built to hide the truth impossibly.

For a time I rudely attempted
To love enough for the both of us

But on comatose reflection
I discovered I had drowned your voice.

I am ready to hear you again
Over the din of my strident heart.

I apologise for each hurdle
That we are oft forced to overcome

Though I treasure each experience
As growth has flourished in we through us.

Destiny proffers a range of choice
For our exertion to exploit.

I ask us to seep through the iced block
And sink into the blissful depths

Where our effulgent cores beat in step
With good playfully bound in passion.

To achieve a time where we construct
Dreams to reality for all

Until with age we are surrounded
In libraries of truth now practiced

Telling stories to our abundant
Grand-children, eagerly drinking bliss.

In love, remorse, and calm gratitude
Flowering in your rich hearts' garden.

Sincerely,

Condoms 'too big' for Indian men

This is embarassing!!

A survey of more than 1,000 men in India has concluded that condoms made according to international sizes are too large for a majority of Indian men.
The study found that more than half of the men measured had penises that were shorter than international standards for condoms.
It has led to a call for condoms of mixed sizes to be made more widely available in India.

Sports personality of the year

First of all. I am not a Royal hater. I don't believe that we should abolish the Royal family. Yes there are some dubious, in-bred, Nazi sypmathising, syphilitic elements - Prince Philip - but all-in-all, they are net contributors to this county - in other words American and Japanese tourists are obsessed with them. Anyway, sat down to watch TV tonight, and saw that Zara Phillips has won sports personality of the year 2006. What a joke. i really couldn't believe it.
Lets break it down:-
  1. Sports. Does riding a horse really constitute a sport. Is horse riding just a rich man's pastime?
  2. Personality. She has no personality. She is posh though - does that now mean you have personality. I have hardly seen her on TV, read about her in the paper etc - granted i do not subscribe to "Horse & Hound".

So how did she win????

My vote would have gone for Monty or Calazaghe, or even the girl who is the best female cyclist in the world.

So, it seems that if you have rich parents, a lot of free time, a stable and some big horses, with lots of servants, then you have hit upon the magic formula of winning the Sports Personality of the year!!

Big Brother on Second Life

Best quote of the week: my friend GS on finding out about Big Brother on Second Life:

“How futile.”

I don’t want to dampen anyone’s fires, I know many people get a great deal of enjoyment from Second Life, World of Warfare &c.

But the pointlessness of sitting at your computer, watching 10 avatars, confined to an imaginary house, in a virtual world…

Am I missing something? Is there some level of entertainment (ironic or otherwise) that can be achieved through such depths of futility…?

Black Meaning Good?

White Christmas is the classic story of love.
A horror film called Black Christmas is released soon.
I remember writing once about someone being raised to believe that all we consider good was actually evil and vice versa.
Are we ever going to have to sort out that same situation with regards the terms black and white?

Sick Murderers, Rapists, and Labour

Under Labour, the average time spent in prison by murderers and rapists is 6 years. This is down from 14 years before Labour came to power.

These are people that should be killed, let alone free after 6 years. People get their Doctorates in about as much time and sacrifice. Actually, half of them probably do degrees while inside. Probably a cheap way to get your school done.

Kill em all I say.

Successful oppression: minority rules.

Is the key to successful oppression of a populace to be an oppressive minority?

It would appear that when a majority seeks to oppress a minority, there is either a mass slaughter and genocide (think the Nazi Germany, or Turkish Armenia or Hutu in Rwanda), or there is a constant and consistent state of "insurgency" as in Turkish Kurdistan, or Quebec in Canada.

When the minority succcessfully oppress a majority, it is either stable on, or it is finished off. Think British Empire, Sadam's control of Iraq, or the Alawites in Syria, Tutsi's in Rwanda.

It seems like it's a little more fair when the minority are in charge, and they have to walk a little more carefully.

Up with minority dominance.

Hearts and minds

Demos will publish a paper today critiquing the government’s approach to dealing with relations with the ‘Muslim community’, and it’s inability to win hearts and minds within this community. What a phlegmatically libertarian way to discuss matters of the heart!

British society and culture today are a result of a very particular series of cultural, intellectual and EMPASSIONED history – for example, women have equal democratic rights because many fought and died for this cause; wealth is redistributed to the poor because citizens collectively evolved an affinity to utilitarianism and compassionate capitalism; universal education is available to all because we agreed as a nation that children have an explicit right to literacy and an expansive childhood; universal medical rights arose from a belief that every human life is valuable regardless of economics – for that matter, regardless of race, class, sexuality, gender.

Our society and all its material and political benefits are a result of the VALUES that we have developed over generations. It is the social manifestation of the very condition of the hearts and minds of British peoples.

The point to this observation is that when migrants enter the country for particular benefits including political/human rights, universal education, free healthcare, increased standard of living – and especially when they come from nations that have not themselves taken the long and painful road to achieving the values that induce said benefits, it is extremely important that they subscribe to these values if we want our nation to continue SUSTAINING these values! Sadly, government funded Demos-eqsue reports such as above make prostitutes of heart and mind, rather than salute them as the goddesses of nation building. Any prospective marauding infidels need to salute them too if they wish to share in our nationhood.

It is one thing for migrants to practice their imported cultures, activities, rituals et cetera, but when they criticise the society we have created, the values that Britain IS, is this not a substantially dangerous practice to merit more than a beleaguered public relations report? Think about it, when an entire ethnic minority community (please understand and excuse my generalisations for the sake of brevity) and in particular, Muslims, prevent their daughters from going to university, when they exclude women from politics, when they shun integration, when they sexually objectify women, when they refuse to learn the state language, when they segregate by caste and gender, when they reject our economic systems, when they promote xenophobia, when they refuse to vote; why can we not state clear and loud, these values and behaviours are not acceptable here? That this behaviour threatens what is in OUR hearts and minds and consequently, the very foundations of our nationhood?

Politicians and public figures need to stop pandering to these communities through some misguided notion of tolerance; a word which was already offensive and obsolete when I was still juvenile and seems to have got alarmingly back into fashion. How can the British government even negotiate with a community that has not a single woman diplomat within its primary representative body, that effete misogynist that is the apparent voice of Muslims? We need to say it as it is – if groups want to behave in a way that threatens our values, it is not only our right, it should be our CHERISHED civic duty to rescue our nation, by driving out the blighted nation-breakers.

We have a referee in the Championship with a thalidomide arm.
Are we allowed to chant "You've only got short arms"?

Worthy of comment

Firstly I'd like to offer my appreciation for how everyone has completely ignored the idiotic smoking post. I imagine we probably have as many smokers as non-smokers, but at least the rest of us have some little intelligence about our vices.

Secondly, there is a debate at the very bottom of this blog which has now entered the realm of the hypothetical.

What should the US and Britain do about Iraq. Should they go home, go hard, or go long? And what will the middle east look like in the scenario you propose?

Some would say it would be victory by the Islamo Fascists... surely not really all that different from the current victory of the Western supported Facsists regimes in Egypt and Saudi. and the Quasi dictatorial states of Kuwait, Turkey, and Israel (at least for certain proportions of the populations).

Nevertheless, if America = good, then killing even innocents in the name of America is surely also good. Hmm, sounds rather suspect and quasi-religious. I don't think we need to wonder if the atheist, secular, and democratic creed is capable of as much fanatical our might = right to kill as religion.

Smoking is great!

I doubt I'm gonna even bother replying to any comments to this post because it will just be full of non-smoker fascists telling me how stupid and evil smokers are!
But I thought this was interesting - it comes from www.quit.org

While smoking has been clearly identified as the cause of many diseases and other health problems, as described above, it has also been observed to reduce the incidence of some diseases (endometrial cancer, Parkinson's disease, ulcerative colitis, hypertension of pregnancy and Alzheimer's disease). This is known as a 'protective effect'.
There is evidence to suggest that smoking reduces the risk of cancer of the endometrium (membrane lining of the uterus) in post-menopausal women by an estimated 30% in current smokers.
This may be because of the effects of smoking on oestrogen levels. Smoking is known to affect other oestrogen related phenomena: for example, both a woman's age at menopause and her bone density after menopause are related to her oestrogen levels. The action of cigarette smoking is opposite to that of oestrogens in each instance: relative to other women, smokers have an earlier age at menopause and bones that are more brittle. The risk of endometrial cancer is substantially increased by the use of drugs containing oestrogen. Therefore it is not inconsistent that tobacco smoke could counter the effect of oestrogens and reduce the risk of endometrial cancer.
However if some degree of protection from endometrial cancer is afforded by cigarette smoking, it fades to insignificance when compared to the numbers of lives lost through smoking. Some 30 times as many lives are lost due to smoking than saved through lowered incidence of endometrial cancer. Researchers have acknowledged this: 'The present findings [about endometrial cancer] do not have direct public health importance since cigarettes, overall, have serious deleterious effects. However, if these results are confirmed, elucidation of the underlying mechanism whereby smoking reduces the risk would be of interest and might be useful in the development of strategies for preventing endometrial cancer.'
It is estimated that the overall aetiological fraction of endometrial cancer prevented in ex- and current-smokers is -0.10. This means that for every 100 cases of endometrial cancer observed in a community where smoking occurs, if smoking were absent from this community, 10 more would occur.
Tobacco also appears to have a protective effect against Parkinson's disease and hypertension of pregnancy. The overall aetiological fractions for the effects of smoking are -0.35 for Parkinson's disease in men and -0.22 in women. In women, the aetiological fraction for hypertension of pregnancy is -0.07.
The effects of smoking on ulcerative colitis are unclear. In their review, English et al conclude that there is limited evidence that current smoking protects against ulcerative colitis and that there is also limited evidence that past smoking causes ulcerative colitis. The overall effect of ever smoking is that 8% of ulcerative colitis in men and 3% in women is caused by ever smoking.
Recent research indicates that smoking may also protect against the development of Alzheimer's disease in some measure. However, as with the other conditions listed above, tobacco use is not recommended as a prophylactic: 'Although the association is compatible with a protective effect of smoking for familial Alzheimer's disease, it has no relevance for prevention of Alzheimer's disease because of the adverse health effects of smoking.'

Well done Prince Charles

Prince Charles has gotten the death sentace commuted on Mirza Tahir Hussain who was banged up in Pakistan 18 years ago for shooting a taxi driver in a struggle. He maintains the taxi driver tried to sexually assalt him, pulled a gun and it went off as Hussain tried to fight him off. He immediately turned himself in but got banged up under Sharia Law.

The death sentace has been lifted but the dead mans family still want him dead. The taxi drivers mum says she will set herself on fire if he is released so he still has a long way to go.

The question is, would an elected head of state have had the same pull as a member of the Royal family and future King of England did. We may not give a toss about the Royal family but the rest of the world still regard them very highly.
For this reason alone I would vote against any Republican movement that formed in this country.

Is it time to scrap the human rights act?

What the fuck is going on? Criminals with drug addictions given compensation for the stress caused by the "cold turkey" tactics. Hamza saying deportation to his home country violates his human rights. Examples like this are plentiful but where were the human rights of the bankers exported to the US on fraud charges? Have we gone fucking mad? I mean surely these addicts benefitted from getting off drugs? Surely this was a step towards rehabilitation, at least from the point of view that they are no longer required to rob our homes to feed their habit?

Surely Hamza by coming to this country seeking refuge means he has to abide by our laws or risk exportation once he's served his sentence for violating those laws?

Perhaps stories where the Human rights act works doesn't sell newspapers so can anyone give examples where this act actually made things better for anyone?

Why I hate Canadians

Maple syrup on bacon!!!!

What a bunch of cunts!

De-sensitised

Is there anything human beings are incapable of becoming desensitised to?

People crap in eachothers mouths for pleasure.
People blow up little children.
People conduct gas chamber genecide, rocket launcher genocide, and burry people alive.
People eat other human beings.
People are quite at east speaking about 2million dead, 40 million dead... war, famine, disease.
People who rape babies get a couple years in prison.
People will torture others including dissolving their limbs in acid, poking holes in every imaginable place, straining, breaking, cutting, and poking in every imaginable way.

And that's the thing, nothing is unimaginable, nothing too grotesque for human indifference, nothing which doesn't require just a tiny bit of justification and adjustment. And who provides the justification? Corrupt, inbalanced, and infantile leaders through repetative, naive (or corrupt), and wholey pandering media.

Even our "righteous indignation and shock" has limits, is easily manipulated, and rarely channeled except for political ends.

Reality is insane.

Why I hate Australians

Do Australians actually have any redeeming qualities. Don't say you know a nice Australian - a good bloke - because I bet he has been living in West London for 15 years, and his parents were born in England. He doesn't count.

They live in a beautful country, with an excellent climate, a whole continent to explore. They have a reasonable standard of living, love a barbie and a beer, and a dip in their swimming pools.

They have no political enemies living on their borders, and would be the country most likely to survive and thrive after a nuclear holocaust.

So why are Aussies such wankers. Racist, ignorant, stupid - genetically thick, close-minded, sport obsessed, soap watching morons. With an Aussie, everthing has to come down to the lowest common denominator.

They single handedly humiliated, subjugated, and destroyed their indigenous peoples.
They offer nothing to the world in terms of technical or scientific advancement - not even a good sun bloc!!

They scream and cry and debate endlessely about the only thing that registers on their political radar, and thats immigration - convienently forgetting that they serve as one of the best examples of how mass immigration supplants and destroyed an indigenous culture - through numbers and force of arms alone in a few generations.

I hope that twenety million Vietnamese boat people manage to land in Australia. Payback's a bitch.

The cricket fans among us will know that the Ashes are currently being contetsted. The England team have only been in Australia for three days, and already, their british born Sikh bowler is being abused for no other reason other then he is brown. The same happened to the South African black pace bowler Ntini, when he was there a few months earlier.

So I have had enough.
If you are Australian and reading this blog - FUCK OFF! I hate all of you, without exception.

If you are not Australian and reading this blog, remember what I have said when you are meeting an Australian. Your intention should be soley to humiliate and embarrass. Remember it' s okay to say what you want because we all know the Aussies love to banter. If they get offended, remember to say fair dinkum and move on to your next target. If it helps refer to their geneology and the fact that they really are the spawn of scum. I know its a cliche, but trust me, it really works. Also, ask them how long they have been visiting the UK, and when they intend to return. If they have stayed here for longer then six months, ask to see their visa. Take down their details and report them to the authorities. Make them feel like an illegal immigrant.

The Yanks are bad enough - but at least they can say "we are the richest country in the world", or " we have the biggest army in the world" or " we run the world". They have some substance to base their arrogance and superiority. Aussies have nothing apart from a sun tan, a few swimmers and a cricket team. A nation, a people, a culture that amounts to nothing and never will.

Watch out Aussies - I'm a coming!!!!!!!

Robbery in motion- off the bus onto the tube

So I am on the tube and I see 5 young "yobs" which is the best description of hooded 18-20 year olds travelling in a pack causing trouble. They push through the train and I go back to reading.

They get off at my stop and threw something at a young woman and banged on the tube doors.

I'm usually reading a book, but I decide this is a better time to be wary, put my book away, place my bag over my shoulder properly, and uncap my pen and hold it in my fist inside my pocket.

I check into the tube to see the two bewilldered girls and look back up at the youth laughing and then running up the stairs.

I follow warily, and they cross the street in front of me. The blockbuster they tried to go into is closed, and I walk past them, checking inside the windowpanes for anyone getting close to me. I'm not nervous, but calculating.

I see a young woman with a large cary bag on my left going to her car as I walk past and I think to myself, dangerous target, I hope she is wary too. I kept going.

I'm half a block away and I hear the pelting and running of the youth, laughing as they rush past me, followed quickly by screams for help "I'll give you anything, money, whatever you want, pleeaaaseee" she continuously screams.

I run after the youth half heartedly, trying to keep contact and within visual range, but aware I'm all by myself, with a bag, a plastic pen, and a nice suite...

A truck pulls in with two guys looking out, I wave at them, they are around the corner, and I rush in... it's a blind alleyway, 5 little criminals, darkness, and me. I stay back. The guys in the truck observe then drive away.

I walk back and two of the young guys are lurking in the bush, I move towards them and they run off... neither had the bag, what's the point?

Now a little group of people gather around the frantic woman, it has all her keys, wallet, all her work on her laptop, she is alone... no shoes on.

We're standing there and a yobbish looking bloke tries to saunter out across the green, the place they had run into was a culdesac, the only exit was to launch over a security fence onto the tube lines. I can't recognize him, but I stop him. He gets irrate with me. I tell him he looks like one of the guys who was part of it. He claims innocence, gets angry with me for accusing him of "looking like a criminal" and says "he would never cause a young woman so much misery" he then asks for a fag and one of the guys gives him one, some of the women who have gathered apologize to him and say no one was accusing him.

I walk up and say, "what are you doing here."

"Visiting a friend."

"What is his name?"

"Punch you..."

"Go ahead, that would make things a lot easier."

"Charlie Hackle, punch you is his tag."

"Fuck off."

He goes around and mingles and then walks off. I'm annoyed, I should grab the fucker, but really, what's my interest? He'll deny it, no one saw him do anything, he has no bag on him, the victim doesn't recognize him... Still I should have grabbed him till the cops came, the others aren't as keen though.

The cops come, calm the lady down. I go to the tube station to see if any of them have tried to go back.

We mill around waiting for the cops, but they don't need any statements unless we actually witnessed the snatch. None of us have. I offer to escort the attractive blonde home, she's nervous. I give her my card, we walk, she's from Brazil, USA, Birmingham. She'd never been robbed once in Brazil, or in the states, in Birmingham she was mugged twice and burgled once.

An aspiring actress, was rather pleased to meet her. But I'm still aggravated. I made the right calculation, the 5 of them could have beat me down and probably enjoyed caving my head in, but I was still tempted to run in, although I am pretty certain most people would have watched me get shit kicked.

I have decided I did what I could, that I would have done more if a vigilante crew had formed, but my philosophy of a fight is finish the fuckers hard, so I'd probably be in a jail cell with a ruined suit and a black eye with the laptop still gone, and my bag too...

So I've decided next time I'm in a situation like that I'll aim for a preventative approach. I'll take the warnings and stay with the woman instead of walking past and minding my own business. I knew she was a good target, and I should have taken responsibility for that.

Still hoping the attractive brazilian girl gives me a call...

Who wrote these classic quotes?

1 - Man is a marvelous curiosity … he thinks he is the Creator's pet … he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea.

2 - Man has been here 32,000 years. That it took a hundred million years to prepare the world for him is proof that that is what it was done for. I suppose it is. I dunno. If the Eiffel tower were now representing the world's age, the skin of paint on the pinnacle-knob at its summit would represent man's share of that age; & anybody would perceive that that skin was what the tower was built for. I reckon they would. I dunno.

3 - There has been only one Christian. They caught him and crucified him -- early.

4 - What God lacks is convictions -- stability of character. He ought to be a Presbyterian or a Catholic or something -- not try to be everything

5 - Satan hasn't a single salaried helper; the Opposition employ a million

6 - Blasphemy? No, it is not blasphemy. If God is as vast as that, he is above blasphemy; if He is as little as that, He is beneath it.

7 - It now seems plain to me that that theory ought to be vacated in favor of a new and truer one ... the Descent of Man from the Higher Animals.

Bus Incidents 2 - the peaceful way works

Not only do I have to tell people to pick litter up but also to take their feet off seats on buses...

Yesterday, got on the bus, two Bengali youths (baggy jeans, hair with cuts, hoodies etc) - asked one of them to take his feet of the seats - he says 'Why?'...
An older Bengali woman says to me "Just leave them alone"
I say "Why? Do you not think he should take his feet off the seats?"
She says: "I dont have an opinion, I'm just advising you..."
I try and read and let it go but...
"Sorry, but why can't I speak to them?"
"Because this is the inner city and you dont know if they have knives etc"
"I could handle these two! But I take your point and thank you"
I wait till she has got off the bus and turn to my friend with feet on the seats: "You two wouldnt try and stab me for asking you to take your feet off the seats would you?"
"No"
"Coz thats what she was saying - that you were so ignorant that that is what you might do"
Anyway, start usual argument about whether he would put his feet on the seats in his mothers house (of course, he wouldn't, they take their shoes off in the house! Smartass Muslims!). Then he admits he would if his Mum wasnt there and I'm telling him if his mum caught him she'd give him a beating and blah blah blah.
Didn't get anywhere reasoning with him but made him laugh and patronised him ("You'll understand when you're older").
Was thinking I had not gained any victory until they got off at Chrisp St, and the other guy (who hadn't said a word) turned to me quietly and said:
"Sorry about him mate, he was being a twat."
Then a Nigerian woman turns to me and says: "Thank God for people like you"
Suppress the urge to say "God didnt have fuck all to do with it..." and thank her.
Satisfaction - dharma restored!

Religious creation myths are all ridiculous

In response to Poxinfinite asserting that the creation stories of the Bible/Quran could be right...
They are as absurd as the creation myths in any religion/culture be they the Abrahamic 'creation ex nihilo', the vast range of Hindu myths (who according to Wikipedia don't seem to have much conflict with evolution), or the Inuit belief that the trickster in the form of Raven created the world (when the waters forced the ground up from the deep Raven stabbed it with his beak and fixed it into place).
I prefer the outlook of the Buddha who generally ignores the question regarding the origin of life.
No intelligent person could take them seriously.
These myths have been lampooned and had the nail put in their coffin by the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster...
This is the 'ironic' statement from their website:

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, while having existed in secrecy for hundreds of years, only recently came into the mainstream when this letter was published in May 2005.
With millions, if not thousands, of devout worshippers, the Church of the FSM is widely considered a legitimate religion, even by it’s opponents - mostly fundamentalist Christians, who have accepted that our God has larger balls than theirs.
Some claim that the church is purely a thought experiment, satire, illustrating that Intelligent Design is not science, but rather a pseudoscience manufactured by Christians to push Creationism into public schools. These people are mistaken. The Church of FSM is real, totally legit, and backed by hard science. Anything that comes across as humor or satire is purely coincidental.

Why is bleaching your skin more taboo than burning it?

At the end of the day whether someone uses a bleaching product to make their skin lighter (hydroquinone and mercury killing the melanin-making cells), or sits in the sun burning their skin (causing the cells in the epidermis to produce toxic compounds and damaging the capillarys), they are essentially doing the same thing - trying to change their skin colour.

Why is bleaching considered outrageous and yet sunbathing a status symbol.
Sunbathers will argue that they are just trying to look 'healthy', but we all know the history of people using arsenic to make their skin lighter (this was considered 'healthy' then), so it is clearly just the current fashion.
Is it the racial connotations of bleaching?
All I'm saying is: sunbathers are freaks!

Racist litterbugs

Should really add this to 'I Litter and I'm Proud' but...
Standing at the bustop this morning next to the bin.
White guy and a black guy standing near me.
White guy chucks his fag packet on the floor.
I pick it up and put it in the bin saying "I'll put it in the bin for you shall I bruv?"
White guy, pointing at the Bengali guy next to him, says: "Don't bother mate, none of these fucking pakis bother!"
As I front up to him I say "What the fucks the matter with you? [I've forgotten about the littering now] Why are you calling him a fucking Paki? I guess you would have called this guy a nigger 20 years ago?"
Black guy: "You calling me a nigger?"
Me: "No you stupid cunt. You two are both a couple of stupid cunts. Go fuck yourselves."
I walk off.
Not very productive.
What should I have done?

Message to my muslim friends

Jews/Christians have decided to gloss over the more gory bits of the Torah/Bible so Muslims need to to with the Qur'an.
Christians now accept that the Bible should NOT be taken literally…even Archbishops do not believe in the matter of fact creation of the universe in seven days. Likewise, rarely do you here the Pope reminding his Catholic flock of Exodus 35:2 which clearly states that "…whosoever doeth work on the Sabbath shall be put to death". For Christians to reject these outdated beliefs did not mean the abandonment of the entire religion (it is not necessary to throw out the 'baby with the bathwater'). It just means putting things that were written 2,000 years ago into context. [My personal view is that a religion is only truly representative of the original prophet for about 500 years after which time the message has become too diluted from the original, but lets not go there…]
I can imagine representatives of the Taliban saying that this is the reason that Christianity is not the force that it once was (i.e. because it doesn't follow the Bible to the letter), and I can understand this. It would be difficult for any 'progressive Muslims' (as Mirza calls them), which I think would be the majority of Muslims living in the West, to agree with this though.
I hope this doesn't come across as judgemental or preachy. No-one can question the power, importance and beauty of Islam and its role in establishing and continuing great societies the world over, but like Christianity it needs to come to terms with its harsher elements if it is to continue to develop and influence people. Either that or you should all really be taking up arms and smiting my neck!!!
Asalam-a-laikum

Don't save the children

In India, 50% of everyone born blind die in childhood.
People use resources but they mostly contribute to those resources in some way as well.
In an underdeveloped country it could be argued that blind people use resources but don't contribute.
In a developed country curing blind children means that more people contribute to the countrys' economy.
Therefore saving childrens' sight in a developed country means more people who can contribute.
However, in an over-populated underdeveloped country (India for example) there are less resources and less ability to be able to contribute.
Therefore curing blind children in India (or any over-populated under-resourced country) adds to that countrys' problems.
Therefore we shouldn't try to save the sight of poor Indian children

The struggle of good against evil: Evil wins

In the good old days, it was easy to distinguish good from evil. Good was always on Gods side and the Devils work was left to the idle but the events of recent years have made me wonder if these sides have somehome switched. I mean, the amount of pain and suffering inflicted by so-called "believers" from all faiths on the peoples of this planet is overwhelming.

Firstly, we have the Bush and Blair crusade on Islam - the struggle of good against evil for the 21st century. You have Islamic factions defending their faith by "any means necessary". Peodophile catholic priests protected by the Vatican. Aids epidemics worsened by ancient religious dogma.

The list is endless but my point is these so called believers don't seem to be offering much in the way of love and respect. Has good switched sides and have the false prophets finally taken control?

I litter and i'm proud

If every major city has cleaners and these cleaners ensure waste is collected and the environment is kept clean...If every employed cleaner is able to support themselves and their families...then why oh why is it wrong to litter?
