We've all been bitching about ridiculous lengthy court battles, police inability to deal with issues immediately etc.
I saw some ex-UN negotiator General sort out that problem down in Billericay between the Gypsies and Residents.
Is there some way we/someone could set up a peoples court that citizens could pay a small amount to have their issue decided (they have to accept the decision, a la Judge Judy)?
Any ideas?

Not a bad idea in theory, I guess I'd have more faith in a more public system and it might cut out loads of red tape not to mention ludicrous court fees.
You remind me of a great Homer quote:
"Jeez Marge, who made you Judge Judy and executioner".
It may be that the court may be of some use in resolving local disputes but as with any ruling, the outcome must be upheld and without legal credence, that may be difficult.
As for legal costs, these are a joke but how do you really address it?
Do you not think you could just market this idea completely separate from the legal system.
e.g. Sign this contract that you will agree with the outcome of this court...and accept your fate.
No court costs - simple 100 quid each or something...
I agree with the idea in priciple, but who would be on the "peoples court", would you be called up like jury service, would it be the friends and family of the acused/the victim or would you be elected? If the last you'd just end up with a mini version of what we have now anyway...
I hate to say it, but this kinda pretty much already exists. In particular in business.
Instead of professional arbitration (which is what you are talking about where one side is right the other wrong), there is also professional mediation where they approach it from both sides being right.
I think being a mediator would be fantastic, maybe we just need more of them?
Fuck business.
Where does it exist already?
I'm thinking of resolving disputes between neighbours and general antisocial problems.
Yeah but no but.
I got to say, I wouldnt fancy getting between gypsies and anybody. Only a General!! Good man Sir!!
